Happy New Year!

This evening marked the start of the new Islamic year, 1435 to be exact.

The same vocabulary applies here as it did to the Gregorian New Year. “New Year” is سالِ نَو (sāl-i naw).

“Happy New Year” will be سالِ نَو مُبارَک (sāl-i naw mubārak, “sal-e-nou-mo-ba-rek”), literally “Blessed New Year.”
