Parts of the body, part 1: the stuff on the outside

Starting at the top and working our way down, with some miscellaneous bits at the end:

  • Head: سَر (sar) or راس (rās)
  • Face: صورَت (ṣūrat) or چَهره (chahrah)
  • Eye: چَشم (chashm, single or plural)
  • Eyelash: مَژه (mazhah), plural مَژگان (mazhagān)
  • Eyebrow: ابرو (abrū) or حاجِب (ḥājib)
  • Ear: گوش (gūsh), pl. گوشها (gūsh-hā)
  • Nose: بینی (bīnī)
  • Mouth: دَهان (dahān)
  • Lip: لَب (lab), also “lips”
  • Tongue: زَبان (zabān), can also mean “language”
  • Cheek: گونه (gūnah), pl. گونه‌ها (gūnah-hā)
  • Beard: ریش (rīsh)
  • Mustache: سَبیل (sabīl)
  • Chin: چانه (chānah)
  • Neck: گَردَن (gardan)
  • Shoulder: شانه (shānah)
  • Arm: بازو (bāzū), specifically the upper arm, or دَست (dast), specifically the forearm
  • Elbow: زانو (zānū); also means “knee”
  • Wrist: مَچ (mach)
  • Finger: انگُشت (angusht), pl. انگُشتان (angushtān)
  • Thumb: شَست (shast)
  • Hand: دَست (dast)
  • Chest: سینه (sīnah)
  • Abdomen: شِکَم (shikam)
  • Back: پُشت (pusht)
  • Butt: کَفَل (kafal), کَپَل (kapal), or سُرین (surīn)
  • Genitalia: کیر (kīr, penis), مَهبَل (mahbal, vagina)
  • Leg: پا () or ساق (sāq)
  • Thigh: ران (rān) or فَخِذ (fakhidh)
  • Knee: زانو (zānū); also means “elbow”
  • Ankle: مَچِ پا (mach-i pā, literally “wrist of the leg”)
  • Heel: پاشِنه (pāshinah)
  • Foot: پا ()
  • Toe: پَنجه (panjah)
  • Skin: پوشت (pūsht)
  • Hair: مَو () or زُلف (zulf); زلف is more poetic and could mean “a lock of hair”
  • Nail (finger or toe, not the metal kind): ناخُن (nākhun), pl. ناخُنها (nākhun-hā)
